There are multiple records that show that multi-joint exercises, which allow the use of heavier loads, are great when it comes to building muscle massand power, but don't do much for overall performance. If you're trying to increase a few specific bodyparts in relation to a given workout, do that exercise first, do the heavier multi-joint exercise, and then work your way towards the heavier multi-joint exercises. There is also an important point to remember about these multijoint exercises.
